Massachusetts farmers ‘marginalised’ at Worcester dispensary farmers market say industry equity programs need to work

Farmers who say they have been cut off from the lucrative cannabis industry due to rising costs of entry have been faced by police as they protest a so-called “cannabis farmers market” event at a Worcester infirmary over the weekend.

“Farmers don’t even get into the parking lot, let alone sit at the table,” said Averil Andrade, a farmer in Westport.

Andrade and her husband organized a so-called “cannabis growers market” event at Worcester Pots Store Resinette alongside mother-daughter farming duo Omnic Garner and Goldie Beef of AV Rose Farms in Rochester and about a dozen advocates who were sick of barriers to getting into the business commercial.
