Survivor of the Boston Marathon bombing on hope, pain and destiny

Thousands of spectators will line Boston’s Boylston Street on Monday for the Boston Marathon, just as they did on a sunny afternoon in 2013.

On that fateful day, my arms and legs were blown wide by flying shrapnel from a pressure cooker bomb detonated by terrorists at the finish line.

I was a victim of terrorism that day, but I also became a survivor. I’m alive every day. I live through painful surgeries and debilitating anxiety. I live trying to help others; People who suffer like me.
