Buchanon Moon Flower Company, a cannabis seed company in Upshur County, has purchased the building at 46 East Main Street (formerly Jesterline) to open its first store.
Buckhannon residents Riley and Macie Queen launched their Moon Flower company in May of 2019. Since opening, they have grown 20,000 cannabis plants over three growing seasons on their Upshur County farm. Once hemp is harvested, it undergoes an extraction process that results in concentrated CBD oil. This oil is then made into food items, tinctures, and topical ointments to treat a large variety of ailments, including arthritis, joint pain, anxiety, insomnia, depression, nausea, etc. Portions of the crop are preserved, pruned, and sold as “product smokeable,” such as pre-rolled links.
After nearly three years selling their products online and in retail, the Queen Sisters and their Moon Flower team will be displaying cannabis products at their new East Main Street location. “Our space will provide so much more than just our product,” explained co-owner Riley. “We want to create an environment for people to hang out, enjoy live music, board games, poetry tournaments, eat homemade food from our little bakery and educate themselves about the wonders of the cannabis plant!”
The Queen and the Moon Flower team can’t wait to join the “Main Street Family,” as Buckhannon’s central strip continues to thrive with new and unique spaces. Co-owner Massie Quinn added, “We grew up in Upshur County and have seen Main Street thrive in so many ways over the years. We can’t wait to be a part of the progress, and offer a unique place for people to enjoy! We don’t get the chance to provide relief through holistic medicine. Not only do we play a role in making Buckhannon exciting and progressive.The building he’s been moving into is big, so we’ll be able to house all of our facilities – like our lab, our kitchen, our shipping center, and even our grow room!
