The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office has discovered more than 1,000 marijuana plants and at least 160 “blood sports” roosters on the property.
About 1,000 marijuana plants, more than 160 deca and several handguns were seized in a rural area of Calaveras County during a recent raid, law enforcement said Friday.
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office The Marijuana Enforcement Unit says it seized $65,000 worth of marijuana plants on property in Bourson including an RV trailer full of seedlings during the April 20 operation.
Authorities also confiscated a total of seven rifles, one of which was reported stolen from Stockton, according to the sheriff’s office.
Besides plants and weapons, the deputies also found at least 160 “blood sports” roosters.
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office said some roosters were collected as evidence while some were left on the property with deputies and animal services expected to examine the animals.
The sheriff’s office says it has issued a citation for a 71-year-old man on drug allegations and a 45-year-old woman on animal cruelty allegations.
