SANTA FE – During June, the New Mexico Department of Cannabis Control announced that licensed retailers across the state sold nearly $38 million in adult use and medical cannabis combined.
“As adult use sales continue to stabilize, this new industry is bringing new economic opportunities to entrepreneurs and communities throughout New Mexico,” said Carolina Barrera, acting director of the division.
The state’s population centers of Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, and Rio Rancho saw the highest sales numbers, and Hobbs also posted high sales numbers to round out the top five cities for total sales.
The New Mexico Department of Taxation and Revenue received 124 cannabis selective tax returns totaling just over $2.5 million in taxes due for the June filing period, which reflects sales activity in May.
The cannabis control division releases sales figures monthly, with data available at the beginning of each month for the previous month.
