Earlier this year, Minnesota Legal drinks, candy, and other food items containing small amounts of cannabis-derived THCThe chemical that causes the “high” associated with smoking marijuana. This has led many to question the future of legalized marijuana in Minnesota.
Poll in September by MPR News, The Star Tribune, and KARE11 I found that a narrow majority of Minnesota residents support the legalization of recreational marijuana. DFL Governor Tim Walz, who is running for re-election, said he supports legalization.
Nineteen states and the District of Columbia have legalized the recreational use of marijuana. And last month, President Joe Biden Pardoned thousands of people with federal convictions for possession of minor marijuanaindicating a shift in the federal response to cannabis.
