Florida to allow more medical marijuana operators

Miami Florida Department of Health officials are moving forward with the process of awarding 22 more state licenses to medical marijuana operators.

The renewal fee for the new application is $146,000 and the “collection cycle” will allow operators to reapply for licenses when they are denied. The department has not yet announced the application period.

After Florida voters approved medical marijuana in 2016 And the medical use bill was passed in 2017The first state application fee for medical marijuana operators was $60,830.

Governor Ron DeSantis’ administration recently hired Christopher Kimball to direct Office of Medical Marijuana UseOMMU, the state agency that regulates Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers, or MMTCs.

As of Friday, Florida had 776,365 registered patients with marijuana prescriptions, 2,630 doctors qualified to prescribe them, 501 dispensing locations, depending to OMMU.

Recreational marijuana is still illegal in Florida.
