Carney became the first Democratic governor to stop rationing passed by the state legislature when he was Object to a similar package in May 2022.
However, unlike last year, both of the marijuana bills approved by the Senate on Tuesday passed overwhelmingly under veto power:
House Bill 1 legalizes up to an ounce of marijuana for adults 21 and older. HB2 establishes a state commission to oversee the adult use industry and sets state taxes on cannabis at what one lawmaker has claimed is the lowest in the United States.
