Maryland lawmakers and the Senate have resolved differences between a pair of bills to regulate marijuana sales Recently passed in their roomspaving the way for a final vote on both floors within days.
Lawmakers worked quickly to put cannabis regulatory legislation before the state Voter Attestation Act Effective in July, the committee’s actions on Friday brought them closer to that goal.
The bills as submitted were identical, but were modified in certain different ways throughout the committee process as it progressed. On Friday, the House Economic Affairs Committee and the Senate Finance Committee adopted the counterchamber bill and approved reprints that correspond to the procedures so they can advance to the final aisle on both floors before the session ends on Monday.
“Instead of doing this back and forth and appointing convention members and stuff, we decided to stick to each other’s projects and work on adjustments,” House Economic Affairs Committee Chairman C.T. Wilson (D) said Friday. “The goal is that the bill will return evenly.”
The bicameral legislators appear to have effectively achieved this goal.
