Currently, medical cannabis remains federally illegal here in the United States and not fully approved for safe and legal access in many countries around the world. Even if you live in a place where cannabis is legal for medicinal purposes, it may not be approved for the treatment of ASD — and even if it is approved, doctors may be reluctant to recommend it due to a lack of knowledge by the recommending physician. Recently, a drug company created a cannabis-based isolate, meaning one of the cannabinoids, in this case a CBD called Epidiolex that is available by prescription in all 50 states. Some ASD patients still feel the need for some THC to truly experience the benefits of whole plant medicine in treating ASD. This is called Entourage effect.
